Illinois 1st Congressional District Residents Want Don Peloquin For Change in Congress

1st Congressional Districts Cook County South Suburban Residents and newly re-districted Will County are climbing aboard the Peloquin Economic Development and Transportation Expansion Plans. The recent 1st congressional re-districting has woken up many of the suburban residents who have virtually been without representation, to the fact that they’ve been swept up in the Bobby Rush city politics, and they’re climbing aboard the Peloquin“We Can Make A Difference” campaign Citing the proposed transportation expansion spanning the I-57 and 294 Peloquin has introduced the strategic importance of the I-57 and I-80 potential economic quarters much like the I-88 and I-90 were to the western suburbs of Illinois. Peloquin further defines the Proposed Peotone Airport as the key to establishing the success as seen in the west sides large land based re-development at Center Point, which has brought in thousands of new intermodal facilities, commerce and much needed jobs.

The proposed Peotone Airport would be scaled down and tailored to the much needed cargo and freight transportation to utilize the existing intermodal facilities and infrastructure in place. There are many industrial facilities that have rail systems in place, why spend the money re-inventing the wheel, it’s about recovery, and this district has a lot of underutilized and vacant assets sitting idle. This would bring a new network of jobs and drive economic growth through the use of the proposed cargo and freight based airport. It could virtually replicate the success of I-88 and I-90 model of to the Westside throughout Southern Cook County and Will County Just like Peloquin, the 1st district residents have called out both congressmen Rush and Jackson to meet with Peloquin on the proposed Peotone airport and I-57 and 294 expansion, and just like Rush’s dubious record of missing the most votes in congress for his 1st district, he is missing again, while Jessie has his own personal agenda for the airport, he’s missing too.

1st district residents are supporting the Peloquin proposed governing board consisting of Will County, Southern Cook County and the City of Chicago representatives to assure they are all acting in the best interest of the 1st district, not on personal agendas, hiding, or simply missing the opportunities to produce long term growth for their constituents outside the Chicago city limits. Out of the 17 cities comprising the 1st district, the majority of the mayors have been endorsing Peloquin as their residents realize Peloquin, and his posture to trim down the size and complexity of government, is left little choice but to propose the governing board because Rush’s interests for one, focus on the populous Chicago City voters and not their interests.

Heads of Tinley Park, Frankfort and Mokena endorsed Don Peloquin, and as Mokena Mayor Joe Warner states “Peloquin has more experience in personally interacting with the range of diverse people now a part of the new 1st district. from the urban Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago’s far north end, to rural Elwood on the opposite south west boundary. That’s a complicated range of needs”.

Doug Berger for NC Senate: Happy Birthday, Garner’s Own, Scotty McCreery

Today, Senator Doug Berger, wished local American Idol phenomenon, Scotty McCreery, a happy 19 th birthday. McCreery, who won Season 10 of the popular TV singing competition, American Idol, is from Garner, North Carolina. When asked why he singled out McCreery, Senator Berger said, “ While many people are fans of Scotty McCreery’s music, I think he should be commended for his decision to not only return to high school, but to attend North Carolina State University.”

Instead of completing his high school education through the use of tutors, Scotty McCreery opted to complete his senior year at Garner High School last fall where he competed as a pitcher on his high school baseball team. After he graduated, McCreery enroll as a freshman at North Carolina State University.

Senator Berger went on to say, “There was a real collaborative effort with his school, his parents — it’s just such a great example to young people, when someone makes it big like Scotty, yet stays grounded and puts his priorities in the right place. So many people look up to him; he’s a local hero and for Scotty to choose education – as a former school teacher that’s something I particularly appreciate, and something for which we should all be proud.”

Senator Berger is running for reelection to the Senate in the newly drawn, NC Senate District 18. The races features two candidates with varying backgrounds; there is a clear choice between Senator Doug Berger and Chad Barefoot. Senator Doug Berger’s distinguished legal career has included serving as a prosecutor, judge, and an attorney in private practice.  Berger has also served as a middle and high school teacher as well as a youth football coach.  Senator Berger’s background in education and law has given him tremendous perspective and insight during his four terms in the Senate.

Doug Berger for NC Senate: Questions Arise in NC Redistricting

Recent media reports indicate that advocacy groups found over two thousands voters who were assigned to the wrong state House, Senate or congressional districts. This information was gleaned from a “spot analysis” of six counties including: Wake, Durham, Wayne, Wilson, Robeson and Richmond. According to these reports, over two hundred of these voters received the wrong ballots on Election Day. Advocacy groups contend that black voters are much more likely than white voters to live in split precincts, which is the root of the issue.

One of the more impacted areas was the former NC Senate District 7 (Franklin, Granville, Vance, and Warren), which was carved up sending Franklin county as well as portions of Wake county into the newly formed NC Senate District 18.  This forced 4-term senator, Doug Berger, into a new district where he is unknown to many of the Wake county voters.

Senate districts were redrawn by the Republican majority during the last legislative session. To accomplish this, Thomas Hofeller who lists his present occupation as, “Redistricting Consultant at Republican National Committee,” was employed. According to Senator Rucho, who served as the Chairman of the North Carolina Senate Redistricting Committee, Hofeller was employed to provide “the technical expertise.” Hofeller also lists years of work at the United States Department of Agriculture, which has its own checkered past regarding race relations.

Doug Berger for NC Senate: Senator Doug Berger Reaffirms Support of Teachers and Education on World Teacher Day

Today, Senator Doug Berger issued the following statement regarding World Teachers’ Day:

I want to thank teachers everywhere but particularly in North Carolina. Yesterday, we learned that in North Carolina we lost about 11,791 teachers last year. North Carolina is facing a critical time and we must find our footing regarding the prioritization of public education. Teachers are entrusted with our greatest resource, our children and the future they represent.  Instead of cutting education we need to invest in education and that starts with teachers. During the last legislative session I stood with teachers. As a former teacher for both middle school and high school, I understand the challenges that teachers face. It’s bad enough that teachers find themselves as targets, but the assault on the overall funding for education makes it even worse. For example, in Franklin County , they saw a 54.4% reduction in funding for textbooks; books are becoming so expensive that schools have to guard them due to the lack of funding, a student must ask to bring a textbook home and even then, there is no guarantee they will receive permission. Recent reports place the present spending for textbooks in Franklin County at approximately $14 per student, per year – that is unacceptable. North Carolina can do better, indeed North Carolina MUST do better. The choking of our schools funding simply cannot continue. Republicans want to take money from schools so they can pay for their tax cuts for millionaires – it’s Robin Hood in reverse, rob from the areas in need and give to those who do not understand need. I hold educators in the highest regard; I understand and thank them for their sacrifice. I am extremely honored and grateful to have been endorsed by the North Carolina Association of Educators. They represent what I have spent my eight years fighting for as a State Senator. I will do everything in my power to insure teachers receive what they need to make sure our children have the best possible chance for the future.”

Held annually on October 5th since 1994 – World Teachers’ Day was created by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, with the purpose of celebrating teachers worldwide.

A long advocate for teacher’s and education, Senator Doug Berger is running for senate in NC Senate District 18. This race represents a clear choice between Senator Berger and Chad Barefoot. Senator Doug Berger’s distinguished legal career has included serving as a prosecutor, judge, and an attorney in private practice. IL 1st Congressional District Cook County Voters Support Peloquin Suburban Preservation

The first election using the 1st Congressional Redistricted South Side of Chicago and their Southwest Suburbs extending into Will County has city voters crossing over to support the states suburban life style.

With 74% of the new district voters being from the original 1st district, many of original voters are pushing to preserve their weekend getaways in the suburbs and the continued expanse of the commuter train stations for their suburban and rural lifestyle.

City Folks are now realizing they’re far more dependent on their rural and suburban agriculture businesses and how city politics overlook the needs of the rural and suburban growth at their cost.

It’s a wake-up call for many in Cook County; with Will County positioned as one of the new “Agriculture Cross Roads Of America”, their grain export business offers significant growth in the emerging markets such as Viet Nam, Russia, and China, and that means more jobs, revenue for the state and lower costs for their districts agriculture needs.

This 1st Congressional Districts election is fast becoming the center stage for a nation, as Big City residents learn “Intermodal Growth” is the ticket to world competition, not a party ticket.

You simply cannot achieve Intermodal Growth for the agriculture business with the city politicians quest to keep the spend in the city at the expense of the state’s best opportunity to sustain and gain more jobs outside its original district. Here is a short video clip on Intermodal Job Growth.

As the 3rd largest city in the U.S., the voters are realizing they’re dismal job growth has been limited to their federally subsidized projects within the city versus rebuilding the city through better decisions on how to compete globally within the state.

A Win Win situation, without a solution for decades, it’s time for a change, and it starts with educating the people on how to best affect change, and why. There’s a need here, a need to turn things around before we lose the opportunity to reduce our state and nations overall deficit, which ultimately results in the loss of the federal funding we’ve grown to know as the way the City Politicians create more jobs.

The Don Peloquin Campaign for the 1st Congressional District supports growth through voter education. Many people are totally unaware that if Congress doesn’t pass the new Farm Bill, you may as well forget about the food stamp program with its $80 billion a year, or 80 percent of all spending in the $500 Billion Farm Bill. Our position is to grow globally with the best opportunities, and our suburbs and rural areas have the best potential of securing grants for jobs like the $6 million awarded to UW-Madison. That focuses on encouraging more farm-to-school programs like the Research, Education, Action and Policy Food Group’s farm-to-school program, which supplies area schools with fresh, locally produced fruits and vegetables. We need a well balanced spend to gain the maximum benefits for all.

IL 1st Congressional District Don Peloquin Voters Rush To Oust Bobby

The Republicans rush to derail the Metra’s $141 million Englewood Flyover Project hasn’t deterred the supporters of Don Peloquin; they’re climbing aboard his “Time For Change” campaign like a freight train.

Well know n for his hands on “let’s get this going attitude” and 25 productive years as mayor of Blue Island IL., the people of the newly redistricted 1 st Congressional District are rushing to get Bobby out. They’re not forgetful of how Don helped elect the first Hispanic and Afro-American Alderman for the city of Blue Island and they don’t want the Chicago City Politicians in charge of their districts destiny.

The most significant increase in Don’s voter support have been from many of those who are now affected by the redistricting. Many didn’t even realize the impact of it until Don woke them up with his “Unless you want all for Chicago and nothing for the suburbs and our rural areas, you’d had better get out and vote for a change. This rush to get Bobby out is more of a community need than a party vote.

New to the 1 st district, Will County residents are waking up fast and have become a large voice for the Don Peloquin “Time For Change” campaign. They don’t call it Insight, it’s hindsight, either way you slice it, being controlled by the “tentacles of Cook County politics” has never benefitted the suburban and rural areas, it’s like being robbed of our rights to live outside of the city. They even wrote and signed their own “Declaration of Independence” a Grass Roots “We The People” approach to nothing less than inciting a large scale riot in the Burbs in order to affect change.

The buzz and the chatter in some of the most highly read online communities likepatch.com is really heating up, and these pro Don Peloquin “Time For Change” discussions have taken on a flavor with some spice, like “Caliente”, it’s that hot.

“R.I.P., G.O.P” Says Republican Anti-Romney Activist

Will the GOP survive Mitt Romney? No chance, insists a Republican precinct committee officer (PCO) from Redmond, Wash., who has renounced the ticket on two of his websites, RIPGOP and RINORomney.

Lord Nigel Featherston, a former Microsoft engineer who holds 12 patents, thinks the Grand Old Party can be saved, but not by the Romney-Ryan ticket.

“Electing Romney would drive another nail into the party’s coffin,” Featherston declares on his website. Although he rants against RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) and labels Romney a “liberal RINO who lacks any basic conservative principles,” the 66-year-old entrepreneur isn’t suggesting conservatives cast votes for Democrats.

“We must vote for conservative congressional candidates and we must fight the destructive RINOs by rejecting Romney,” he urges, adding, “Vote or write-in a true conservative, perhaps the Libertarian candidate.”

Regardless of the outcome of November’s election, Featherston believes a new conservative party must be created. RINOS killed the GOP, he says.

As for Romney’s pick of Paul Ryan as his running mate, Featherston says voters must realize this is “a total sham.” If Romney were a true conservative he would not have the support of Karl Rove and the GOP country club RINOs, Featherston contends. The notion that Ryan’s conservatism will make Romney more conservative is ludicrous, he insists. “Romney only pretends to be conservative in hopes of getting elected.” After the election, Featherston predicts Ryan will regret being Romney’s running mate,” realizing he was chosen just to provide conservative lip-service and to appease conservatives and the Tea Party. Although Featherston has donated to Republican candidates in the past and served multiple terms as a GOP PCO, he now leans toward the Libertarian party.

WTAMU Professor Seeks Exit Poll Data

Dr. Dave Rausch is gearing up for November’s general election. That’s because Rausch, Teel Bivins Professor of Political Science at West Texas A&M University, loves studying election results and is conducting an exit poll for November’s gubernatorial election.

“I use exit polls to uncover the reasons why voters selected a particular candidate,” Rausch said. “I also use the data for teaching social statistics.”

An exit poll is a survey of sorts taken soon after selected voters leave their voting place. This type of poll differs from an opinion poll by asking how the voter actually voted. Rausch is asking voters to visit wtamu.edu or his web site at wtamu.edu/~jrausch. Both sites will have a link for the exit poll with a few questions about the election as well as questions on term limits, the Tea Party movement and the United States Congress. Voters also will be asked some economic questions and about religious affiliation and church attendance to help Rausch define voting trends.

“The information collected will give me a better understanding of why voters cast ballots as they did,” Rausch said.

Early voting runs Oct. 18-29, and election day is Tuesday, Nov. 2. The general election ballot will include the race for several state offices including governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general.

Leading AML Service Integrates Full Electoral Register

The full 2009 Electoral Register has now been integrated into the Tracesmart anti-money laundering (AML) identity check service. The inclusion of the full 2009 Electoral Register, one of the many positive datasets the system interrogates, will ensure as many legitimate individuals as possible are cleared by the ID check at the first instance.

Tracesmart Corporate‘s AML service allows users to perform identity checks that help them to fulfil their AML ‘Know Your Customer‘ obligations, and it meets the standards set for electronic verification prescribed by the Joint Money Laundering Steering Group (JMLSG).

The UK Electoral Register has two formats – the edited Electoral Register which is available for any commercial use, but does not contain the entire UK electorate as individuals are able to ‘opt out’; and the full Electoral Register which can only be used by companies for credit referencing and anti-money laundering purposes, but contains the entire UK electorate.

Utilising the full 2009 Electoral Register will enhance the pass rate of legitimate individuals at the initial check stage. Historically, the system utilised edited Electoral Register data as part of the identity check, which whilst highly accurate, could marginally affect the initial check pass rate, due to the opt-out clause; this meant further checks – such as document verification – would have to be conducted. Chris Rothwell, Sales Director at Tracesmart, highlighted how the addition of the full Electoral Register will make for quicker identity checks.

“The integration of the full 2009 Electoral Register into our AML system, means that our service users can now swiftly and efficiently identify more of their clients without requesting additional documentation. However, the ability to verify identity documents such as passports, driving licences, credit or debit cards and utility bills, has been preserved in case further checks are required. The system ensures that identity checks are conducted in a business friendly manner, whilst also meeting anti-money laundering obligations.”

This latest update to the AML service follows on f r o m the recent introduction of a ‘single click’ search interface. Previously, users had to build the identity profile of an individual by searching d a t a s e t s and verifying details through a multi-tabbed interface. Whilst many Tracesmart clients found this interface conducive to their business needs, customer feedback indentified the need for a ‘single click’ check. Mike Trezise, Managing Director at Tracesmart, believes this customer-centric approach to service development is one of the company’s strongest points.

“We have always believed it to be truly important that there is a constant dialogue between ourselves and our clients, especially concerning the services themselves. After all, it’s our clients that use the systems day in, day out, so it essential that their needs are fulfilled. As such, Tracesmart will continue to listen to its customers, front-line staff and market research, to develop its services accordingly.”

Access to the full Electoral Register data, via Tracesmart’s AML service, is only available to companies who meet strict data protection pre-requisites.

Political Analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson Tells What An Obama Presidency Means for America’s Racial and Social ills

Political Analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson Tells What An Obama Presidency Means for America’s Racial and Social ills

The previously thinkable is possible and that is that Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama could wrest the Democratic presidential nomination and even beyond that the White House. His Iowa showing is proof, says political analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson, that he can appeal to a wide segment of centrist white voters. An Obama presidency would be a racial step forward in the sense that it shows that millions of Americans can look past race to make a black, especially an exceptional black, their leader.

Unfortunately, it will not show that millions of Americans are yet willing” says Hutchinson, to do the same for the millions of blacks that cram America’s jails and prisons, suffer housing and job discrimination, are trapped in failing public schools in America’s poor, crime ridden inner cities.

Hutchinson will assess:

*Why Obama’s Iowa showing is a historic first
*What’s next for Obama
*Whether black voters will fully embrace Obama
*Whether he can appeal to wide segments of mid-American voters
*Whether an Obama presidency is an antidote for America’s racial and social ills

Earl Ofari Hutchinson is an author and political analyst. His forthcoming book is The Ethnic Presidency: How Race Decides the Race to the White House (Middle Passage Press, February, 2007).
